Kyrgyzstan has launched a public tender offering land plots for the construction of 12 small hydropower plants across the country, with a combined generating capacity of 105.5 megawatts.
The tender is being administered by the state Green Energy Fund, operating under the Cabinet of Ministers. Applications from prospective investors will be accepted until Oct. 29, 2026, with the bidding scheduled to take place in Bishkek on Nov. 3, 2026. Winning bidders will secure land-use rights to build and operate the generation facilities, as the Central Asian nation seeks to expand its domestic renewable energy network.
The proposed sites are distributed across several provinces, reflecting an effort to harness river flows in diverse regions of the mountainous country. The largest planned project is located in the southern Osh region. In the Aravan district near the village of Maydan-Tal, authorities have allocated more than five hectares for a 28-megawatt plant. Additional sites in Osh province, situated in the Kara-Suu, Uzgen, and Kara-Kulja districts, are slated for projects with capacities of 9 megawatts and 1.6 megawatts.
In northern Kyrgyzstan, three sites have been designated in the Chuy region. The Moskovsky district includes plots near the villages of Telek and Temen-Suu for plants rated at 11 megawatts and 1.8 megawatts. A third site in the Kemin district covers 2.5 hectares and is designated for a 7.5-megawatt facility.
Further auctions involve state forestry land in the Naryn, Issyk-Kul, and Jalal-Abad regions. In Naryn, two plots have been put forward, including a 12-megawatt site in the Kochkor district and a 50-hectare parcel in the Eki-Chat area for a 5.6-megawatt plant. In Issyk-Kul, a 12-megawatt facility is planned along the Juuku River, while plots in Jalal-Abad will accommodate stations of 4 megawatts and 10 megawatts. A single half-hectare plot in the Talas region has been earmarked for a 3-megawatt development.
