Kyrgyzstan has finished preparatory infrastructure works for the planned Kambarata-1 hydropower station on the Naryn River, Energy Minister Altynbek Rysbekov told a parliamentary committee.
Contractors have commissioned a bridge over the riverbed, a temporary residential camp for construction personnel, two access roads, and a 126-meter section of transport tunnel. The site is now linked to the national power grid through an 18-kilometer, 110-kilovolt transmission line.
The 1,860-megawatt project, designed to generate more than 6 billion kilowatt-hours annually, is being developed under a tripartite regional partnership. Kyrgyzstan will hold a 34 percent stake in the operating joint venture, while neighboring Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will each hold 33 percent.
Officials from the three Central Asian nations have completed three rounds of legal negotiations on establishing the consortium. A fourth meeting to finalize the terms of the agreement is scheduled to take place in Bishkek.
