Kyrgyzstan has completed the technical launch of the 4.6-megawatt Sary-Tash small hydroelectric power plant in the Bazar-Korgon district of the southern Jalal-Abad region. Built by developer ElInvest Group, the facility represents a total investment of 5.6 million dollars, with 3.8 million dollars provided by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
The diversion-type power station operates with a static head of 122.3 meters and uses a 960-meter concrete canal to direct water to its turbines. Annual output is expected to reach 19.6 million kilowatt-hours. The facility is the seventeenth renewable energy project funded by the Russian-Kyrgyz Development Fund.
Once fully operational, the plant will supply more than 20 percent of the electricity needed in the Bazar-Korgon district. The generation will also resolve supply deficits in the remote village of Jaz-Kechuu, providing reliable power to 72 households that previously faced frequent outages.
