TurboGreen ships first serial 1 MW Pelton turbine to Samur hydro plant

Russian manufacturer TurboGreen has dispatched the first serial K-1 Pelton turbine to the construction site of the Samur small hydropower plant in Dagestan. The 1-megawatt unit was produced at the Kaspiy SGEM plant and is the first standardized model of its kind manufactured in Russia to meet current domestic localization requirements.

Production at the Dagestan-based facility achieved a local component ratio of more than 70 percent. This level of localization allows the equipment to be classified as a domestic product for use in the national energy infrastructure. The turbine has reached its destination at the Samur Small HPP-14 site – where engineers have commenced installation – ahead of planned commissioning tests.

Construction of the Samur facility began in September 2025. The regional energy ministry stated that the localization of Pelton turbines provides a technical basis for expanding small-scale hydropower, particularly in mountainous terrain. The availability of domestic units allows for the development of small river resources, a sector previously limited by a lack of specialized Russian equipment.

The plant has established a production line for this class of turbine and has also begun manufacturing more powerful modifications under the K-2 series label. These developments are intended to provide a broader range of equipment for the domestic hydropower market.
