Ukrhydroenergo signs equipment contract for European grid integration

Ukrainian state hydropower operator Ukrhydroenergo has signed a contract with manufacturer Ukrainian Energy Machines for specialized power equipment following an international tender. The agreement is part of a project to enhance the stability of Ukraine’s energy system and facilitate its integration into the pan-European electricity grid.

The contract aims to stabilize power nodes and ensure generating units can manage fluctuating loads. Sourcing from a domestic manufacturer is intended to secure supply chains and maintain engineering expertise in Ukraine as the energy sector transitions to European technical standards.

Ukrainian Energy Machines – one of the world’s largest turbine producers – designs and manufactures hydraulic turbines for hydroelectric and pumped-storage plants, as well as equipment for thermal and nuclear facilities. The company handles the full production cycle, from design and casting to installation and service.

The equipment upgrade aligns with requirements for the pan-European energy network. According to Ukrhydroenergo, the ongoing cooperation with the manufacturer focuses on the systematic modernization of generating capacity to meet international operational standards.
